Miami is Missing Launches at Books & Books - January 24th, 2015

Like they say, "It's been awhile and it's been lots of miles." Glad to be back in the blog scene especially on the occasion of sharing the launch of Miami is Missing by Antonio Simon, Jr. last Saturday night, January 24th at Books & Books in Coral Gables, Florida.

It was my distinct pleasure to present Antonio Simon, Jr. in this literary journey.  And so it began something like this:
Antonio Simon, Jr. is a lawyer and award-winning author of several books. His debut to authorship won three awards in its first year. In 2014 he was the first-place recipient of the prestigious Royal Palm Literary Award for excellence in writing. All told, Mr. Simon has written four books, collaborated on two, and published over a dozen short stories. Mr. Simon holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Miami, in the subjects of political science and history. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Saint Thomas University’s School of Law. He is a full time practicing attorney, author, historian, husband, father and my amazing son (in law); a term I use loosely as I consider him a son.

The introduction was followed by carefully selected unique juicy bites from Miami's history from the point of view of Antonio Simon, Jr.,the story teller.  His execution in  sharing information regarding little known or unspoken tales of our cities were as engaging as personal to many who have lived in south Florida for years.  He made the topics educational and dramatic with a spot of humor sprinkled onto his deliveries.  In all, Mr. Simon gave everyone just enough information to want to read more. Miami is Missing is a must read; all copies in-house were sold out.

No worries. Miami is Missing and other works can be purchased on-line in numerous ways. You can start by linking to the following Darkwater Syndicate Bookstore  or if more comfortable click on this  Amazon link for your shopping pleasure.

More information regarding Miami is Missing is told in an article  recently printed in the Miami Laker:

Emily Dickinson (1830–86). Complete Poems. 1924.

Part One: Life
LXXXIX

A WORD is dead

When it is said,

Some say.

I say it just

Begins to live

That day.

'Dickinson insists that the internal world of a word, the unuttered word's meaning, is limited by the cultural and intellectual perspective of the thinker. Only when spoken does a word come alive, its meaning brought to life by the listener, the listener's input, the listener's interaction with the word and the speaker."

I submit, this applies to music and the arts.  Life begins with the sharing of thoughts, sound and visual accompaniments.
