Fathers Day and the Rabbit Cook Off!

About three weeks ago while having yet another family evening of good eats and mindless banter, two Tony's and one Armando devised a plan to cook up a typical Portuguese-like rabbit meal.  A date was set and the plot thickened as Sunday drew near.

Three fedoras, three pounds of rabbit, one box of pasta and some vinho verde translated into  a culturally palate awakening soiree.

And, oh what a night it was!

It so happened the great rabbit cook-off coincided with Father's Day, a Portugal win, a Miami Heat win and in the same context a proper send off to our Portuguese vacation just three days away! Sunday, June 17, 2012 was a perfect Sunday filled with all of the best case scenarios! True-that!

As I quietly anticipate the goodness of things to come, I admit this must be the first Monday EVER that I am not mourning the loss of my weekend nor counting the minutes till the late day bell rings so I can go home.  I am happily seated in front of a small to-do list and deciding what reading materials and finger foods I plan to pack into my carry on. Tough life isn't it? I will take it!

This Monday I continue to thank God for my amazing family and all the wonderful elements that are packed into our days and nights.  Once again we have had a time to gather and embrace the tangible reality that all good things truly do come from above. (James)

Nikon COOLPIX
Mother's Day came and went and in a similar wave came an unhealthy bout of bronchitis, pharyngitis and all of the malaise that travel with these germicidal vagabonds. Sadly, I am still dealing with the fallout of bacterial nonsense.

In spite of my debilitated state, I was elated to find that my husband and son gifted me with a new Nikon COOLPIX.

Typically, we do not exchange gifts on colloquial holidays, however serendipitous, I made like a bandit this year.  Favored by good fortune, what can I say?

By the by, I am partial to Nikon cameras as a Nikon was my first tool of the trade at the University of Miami when I was learning to paint the world RED a few short years ago.

Also for this very same occasion, my princess of a daughter and prince of a son-in-law gave me a blogging mug to accompany my endless verbal and written banter. Thanks to them, I resolved to write a brief state of disposition prior to the daily 'cafe du matin'.

To my disappointment, I have not been able to employ, nor mug nor camera, as I have succumbed to the cough-coughs of  displeasure! I vow to pick up where I left off many words and pictures ago.

Count down on the blogging mugness!

An energetic countdown has begun at our homestead as we inch closer to our reunion with the Iberian peninsula, family and friends.  My bags are not packed and my list of to-buy items are almost bought and ready for travel.

I am pleased to say that I have acquired thoughtful gifts for  the names on 'THee A' list; all items will travel discretely and legally within the confines of a small suitcase.  I am especially thrilled at the artful acquisition of one of Paul Benjamin's Photographs titled, "three strikes and you are out." This image was taken as a lightening storm covered Miami's famous stomping ground of South Beach! Ahh, that's not all; to my good fortune it has been signed and dedicated by Mr. Benjamin.  No doubt, Miami lightening will be travelling with me, in hand, on the plane.

Still more preparation to come!
